City of Bottineau Water Users we need your help!

What: Water systems must submit an inventory of every service line in their territory - including the material type for both the customer- and utility-owned portions of the line.

Why: The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and North Dakota, Department of Environmental Quality (NDDEQ) have set specific requirements for lead service line inventories. Compliance with these regulations is mandatory to ensure that our community meets the highest standards for water quality and safety.

When: EPA deadline is October 16, 2024.   However, we are receiving state assistance to perform this inventory, therefore, the initial inventory is due to the state by April 1, 2024.   We need your assistance ASAP!

How:  Please use the following link to assist with identifying your service line material: https://apps.npr.org/find-lead-pipes-in-your-home/en/#intro Then, please provide pictures that include a sign (as shown below), so we can inventory your service line without having to enter your home, pothole, or dig a trench in your yard. Please also ensure the pictures are clear and well-lit to assist with service line material verification as it enters your home and connects to the water meter.

Please send your pictures to cgarage@utma.com or text them to 701-263-2818.  Please list your name and address. If you would rather a public works employee come out to take pictures, please call the office at 701-228-3232.
